The current variation of Mazda’s Miata, the MX-5, is actually the third generation of their iconic convertible. Late in the life of the second generation they gave it to the folks at MazdaSpeed, their in-house tuner. (Like the “M” vehicles for BMW, or “AMG” for Mercedes).
